I'll start by saying it: this just ended Year of the Tiger sucked. And I'm a Tiger, so what in the hell happened? Looks like I fell for the whole "false hope" thing brought about by my Year. grr. While I am in a slightly better position than when the Tiger Year kicked off, I'm falling behind in every thing that I wanted to do--get the hell out of Washington and work on making others' words better in the UK (was it just too much to ask to be given a work permit).
Now we start another Rabbit Year, which if my horoscope (okay, the sheet of paper someone printed out at work) pans out, this year will be my year. (Something about travel and getting better money together. Hey, works for me.) May be I'll get to see the sights of Paris for my birthday, and I'm not talking Texas.
I'm using Fluenz French to get my terrible French in check. I can say that for those that have studied languages, Fluenz is much better than Rossetta Stone. I used that to study some Italian while stationed in Iraq and had a terrible time of it. Rossetta is good if you've never studied languages before, not so much if you want to know the underpinnings of the language you're speaking.
I am also planning to set out in a tuxedo for the first time in my life at a work party Saturday. Amazon knows how to cut loose, and this year's theme is a Mardi Gras theme. I have a Venetian mask to go with the tux, and hope I don't look like a complete fool wearing it.
Bonne chance.
