My faith is officially restored in movies. After seeing the incredible 'Inception' in the theater, I have finally watched 'Primer' on DVD. Smart, thought-provoking, and well-executed-both of them. It's not about stars, nostalgia, or focus groups. It's about creative storytelling.
My faith in comic books, however, is waning at an ever-increasing rate. Two more of my favorite books, 'Air' and 'Greek Street', have been canceled. I continue to see my favorite creators do boring work for the Big Two since their own creator-owned books do not make them enough money to support themselves and their families. The recent San Diego Comic Con was a total misnomer-comics seemed to be the LAST thing anyone was excited about, replaced with the hype surrounding movies and television shows.
Bleh. Time for a little vacation. I'm off to Pennsic, to play drunken pretend with other rowdy dorks.
