We are back from a sojourn to South Carolina. The area we were in, the Piedmont, is beautiful rolling hills and farmland. We stayed in a house with lots of land, adjoining woods and a creek, all of which provided endless fun time for my son and I. Lots of strip malls, chain stores, and other developmental dreck have come to this area, but Simpsonville itself retains a bit of its very old charm.
Its always a bit odd when I visit, seeing the roads named after various branches of my wife's family. There is a lot of ugly human history in the immediate vicinity here, some of which her family participated in long ago.
Back to work under the intensely blue Rocky Mountain sky; I think we have some summer today. Good thing I can stay home and work, I'll get a chance to go out and play in it.
