On the way home today from a stint in Boulder, I saw a herd of about 35 elk grazing in the meadow I cross just after the ridgeline. I have seen elk here many times (including on my driveway) in the 10 years I have lived in this area, and it still never ceases to give me pause.
The dominant male was obvious and huge, with an immense set of antlers. There were quite a few cows, and a few very immature males.
I have been pretty ill
for a few days. Almost all better now.
