Last night, in my deeply fucked up dream life, I took a break from my id's usual NC-17 content to play one of those arcade racing games that actually looks and (sort of) feels like a car. I don't remember much about it, except that the seat for the game was made of ice, which struck me as odd even in dream logic.

Things have been screwed up lately, domestically speaking; one of my roommates has transformed from "high strung but lovable" to "serious cantankerous nagging pain the ass." The problem is a conflict of lifestyle - she works a day job in the city and wants to come home and hang out, unwind, etc, and I'm a writer and a programmer which means I work at home (mostly at night). So while I'm trying to write some great American masterpiece (or more likely some clever piece destined for a place as a prominent footnote in some obscure anthology), she's got a pile of people in the living room watching Jessica Simpson ditzing her way through various jackasseries.

All of this begins with a party. We have tons of shit left behind by former tenants and roommates, and in a rush to clean the apartment before said party, said shit got crammed into my closet. Last week I got a new desk and needed to make room for it, and in a fit of irritation I threw out some of the closet crap and attempted to reclaim my space. I said to roommate #2, "No matter what happens, we can't let roommate #1 take out the trash until after trash day, because she'll freak if she sees I threw out this worthless crap." Last night, roommate #1 got pissed about dishes and trash (you can see where this is going), and in taking out the garbage saw some pillows I'd tossed. Instead of grabbing the pillows, she came upstairs to yell at me about it then stormed off to stay at her partner's place. So now I suspect roommate #1 wants to have a big sit-down during which we'll discuss who has to take out the trash when, and during which I'll most likely say, "I have a closet full of trash, if you'd like to start there."

I really, really dislike living with someone who nags and dictates. And I absolutely loathe living with someone who enforces a chore schedule, which is what I think is about to happen.

But in other news (and speaking of nagging), I nagged roommate #2 into asking crush out for lunch. Of course, #2 couldn't possibly do the lunch thing without some sort of support, so I've been roped into it as well. Mmm, Chinese food and love.
