last week i went to the final halifax burlesque society show "Burlesque Goes Bust." It was my first show, same for the friends of mine that went. now im all sad that there will be no more shows. it drew huge crowds, and two f-ing long line ups, one for those with tickets and one for those without. i stayed for the first half crammed in near the front of the stage, but just so far away that you had to crane and jump around to get brief glimpses. that sucked. during intermission i left my cohorts in the sardine area and wandered around bumping into people i know from school and inhaleing second hand smoke. then i caught the last few sets standing in the back, which was somewhat elevated so easier to see. apparently i misssed the best set, which had blacklights. oh well, you cant miss what you dont know. unfortunately, now that i have seen a burlesque show, im going to miss them now that theyre gone. maybe someone else will start up something similar, but i wont be holding my breath. it was great to see all the people who went and dressed up for it. ill take any excuse to dress up.
