ok. so. update time.
i fell ill a little over a week ago. i was spending some time helping my friend with his busted leg in and around highland hospital in oakland quite a bit and managed to catch strep throat(not surprising) and H1N1(swine flu, very surprising)
i felt a little crappy last monday morning so i grabbed a jug of orange juice to nurse at work and felt increasingly ill allllllll day to the point where even my boss was like "you look sick as hell", right. even stranger is i was sick to my stomach throwing up at work and i rarely get sick like that. so when i got off work i took a nap on the bentley and didn't really realize how sick i was until roach got home and i couldn't swollow or breathe or really move. bummer. so our friend dan took me to the ER and it was f'n slammed! at this point i was in tears and pretty much bleeding from my mouth/throat/lungs. i waited a long time sleeping on roach and crying and not breathing until i saw the first nurse... who told me that my lungs weren't getting 100% of the oxygen they could be getting and my fever was 103 but she couldn't do anything for me so i'd have to wait like the rest of the cattle in the room... dying. at this point my neck and face were swelling and everytime i coughed i spit up blood and gnar... yeah, gnar is the word for it because it was fucking black almost like i've been smoking for 40 years.
anyhow. after about 7 hours, no joke, i was seen and given vicodin and some other crap and diagnosed with pretty rapidly growing strep and H1N1.
we took a cab home around 6am and i slept for about 3 days with a fever that wouldn't break and some really horrible back pain. it wasn't 'til thursday that my fever went under 100. i'd leave my room to try and get fresh air and this would happen.
the 4th and 5th days the rattling, choking coughing came and i was more miserable then when i was at least able to sleep. fits through the night and in the morning and everytime i moved. fuck. around day 6 i started getting up and taking bentley for tiny walks and putting my own dvds on.. yeah it was that bad. i still looked and appeared to be either taking the form of a zombie or a vampire. let's go with vampire because they are sexier... way sexier.
by day 7 i was up and dressed in normal people clothes and eating food that wasn't cereal or soup and laughing and really finally believeing i would one day feel normal again.
however, there was still much of this going on.
yesterday i came back to work and have been feeling alright. yesterday i even went out for lunch with my friend jake like a normal human! i'm super bummed i seem to have lost whatever awesome i gained from riding my bike everywere in a matter of weeks, but whatever, i'll get it back.
for those who found out i was a sickie via the internet grape vine, thanks for your well wishes. means a lot.
okeee, back to work for this little bee.
