I dislike carpel tunnel, I dislike having to wear a brace, and at times I intensely dislike taking just a minute amount of vioxx to help the situation because I can't drink. The fact that I am taking 12 mg a day, and yet because I like having a functional liver, I couldn't do things like have a glass of champagne at a party tonight, or even a sip of brandy after coming in from the subzero temperatures this week is very frustrating.
I have to say though...I'm pretty terrified about my hands. I saw a hand specialist last week about it and I'm going back again in early February. The thing that disturbs me the most is how fast all this set on. My wrists started hurtng a bit in late November, and within three weeks it would be painful for hours after I was writing or typing...then my right arm would go numb when I slept. I already have a small bit of paralysis in my right thumb, which even the doctor said was "not something he wants to see happening in a 23 year old."
Musicians and historians do rather depend on their hands.
