Apparently my total inability to focus over the past three weeks has been due, in significant portion, to my cessation of drinking soda. I had a few glasses today and the caffeine actually let me focus. I've been doing work almost continually since 4:30 today and was actually productive.
In looking over much in the way of PhD program materials I came to an important realization/conclusion. No one is doing exactly what I want, how I want, and in the methods that I want to employ. Therefore, so long as I have access to good classes, research materials, and even competent teachers, I can do what I want to do. So Boston University is pretty much going to be it for me for the next 4-5 years.
Now I just have to plough through the next few weeks, strive to actually get all my papers done and done well, and then I can chill for a bit until next semester. (And by chill I mean work and relearn Latin...oh, and start working on all my solo piping music for next season, and my band music...ah well, I'm still pretty fucking happy today.)
