I'm not sure what it says about me, but last night when I read, "The late E. H. Carr, in his widely read, resolutely trivial What is History?..." (in Gay, Freud for Historians. Oxford University Press: Oxford, 1985.) I amost did a spit take with my drambuie. I think it says that I'm a grad student, spend too much time reading, and have already started becoming ingrained to accepting the untouchable and irreproachable stature of certain historians.
