Long time no post!
Things have been low key in the household. Our gerbils got a new condo of a cage and they're loving it. We have two gerbils: Ellsworth and Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is white with red eyes: a nice typical gerbil. He likes to roam about the cage, chew stuff, eat, drink, sleep, and generally be merry. Here is his happy habitat:

Ellsworth has a gerbil mental disorder. I'm providing a picture below which shows his re-growing bald spot. We used to have a wire wheel for them to run on. You can see now (above) that it has been replaced with a plastic one. The plastic one doesn't have a rod in the middle. Ellsworth used to run and run and run and Run and RUN, but he would make one revolution of the wheel, and then stick his head out and pull it back in just long enough for it to smack against the bar of the wheel. So his head was rubbed raw.
Now, he RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS AND RUNS FOR HOURS!!!!! Obsessively! And when Santa Cruz tries to get on for a turn, Ellsworth kicks him off. It's psychotic. If there were a gerbil psychiatrist out there, I'd take him.
