Four years ago I wrote a poem about the election and it spread all around my high school. It was funny, jolly, and carefree, and everyone seemed to like it a lot. I decided to write one again this year. It's not as funny, but I don't think this election is as funny as the one four years ago.
My rant in rhyme and rhythm:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Democracy 2004
The time crept around once again to decide
In the land where Democracy reigned.
The pressure was strong to attach to a side
In a kingdom where so much had changed.
The Elephant, red, incumbent and raw
Held fast to his seat on the throne.
His nemesis, Donkey, well-practiced in law
Had ruling designs of his own.
The Elephant shouted of life and of good,
Of Evil that meant to destroy us.
His challenger doubted a leader that could
Not even afford to employ us.
The Elephant stuttered, the Donkey tut-tutted,
At the end of the day we cry draw!
And the citizens choose their own sides and views
Regardless of what they just saw.
The Elephant, eyes overflowing with fire,
Sings hatred and brimstone and Hell!
The sheep at his side who raise him eer higher
Join in the enrapturing spell.
Hail Fire! Hail Brimstone! Hail Evil and Good!
Hail Elephant, wise and un-muted!
And cursed be anyone, damn them who could
Say these noble truths be disputed!
The sheep brayed and trampled the evidence, ample
Enough to inspire conviction,
Insisting our leaders flaws end at his tongue
And his troubled relations with diction.
Meanwhile, the left, annoyed and bereft
Tried raising their voice oer the drone.
The goats followed suit with a fresh new recruit:
A rhetoric all of their own!
The goats chanted Evil! The Elephants wicked!
The cause of our moral decline!
They bleated and spat through their signs and their pickets,
But no sheep crossed over the line.
In a world split in twos, everyone loses,
And nothing can ever be equal.
While the goats and sheep bleat through the din in the street,
Let the choices be made by the people.

my bunny is 8 yrs old and is also pretty much good about pooing in the poo box... unless we forget to change it often enough and then she decides since the box is full she can start on the rest of the house...
