The Royal Tenenbaums is the one movie that will calm me completely, probably because watching people kill themselves in movies is sometimes cathartic. The stylized color scheme is also soothing to me, and I love how the film is pieced together. I really enjoy dark humor when it's presented with realism, which is part of what makes the movie funny and the character likable, even though they're all fucked up. (Gwenyth Paltrow stunningly plays my favorite character, Margot, who is also one of my many fashion icons.) Probably my favorite thing about the movie is the soundtrack, though, giving me a brief introduction to Elliot Smith, Nico, and Paul Simon. Each song is perfectly timed in the movie to help capture the scene, which also satisfies something deep in my brain. It's a beautiful movie about fucked up people that I find to be a source of comfort.
Thanks @rambo & @missy~
