What a weekend.
I saw Electra on Friday, which was wonderful and macabre - despite some sound design come musical numbers I wasn't impressed with. The chorus, however, was very Edward Gorey-inspired, and there was gore.
Afterwards, I had a pint at a pub on Whyte... It was as if all the chachis from teh University had descended.... All those knobs I never see cuz I'm stuck doing homework or living in the Arts Centre. Oh, the mating habits of thsoe about to indulge in Reading Week. It was like a freaking meat market. I was very happy to have a pint and opt out of that mess!
Last night was the Fetish show. Fun despite a tumultuous beginning (really for the galpal I was with). We arrived too late, it seems, and were just in time to watch ladies onstage get covered in clothespegs and one played with a cattleprod-like device. Heh.
That wound down, and my friend and I, clad in corsets and fishnets, dashed to New City. MECCA! It had been too long. My boots and my feet LONGED to dance. Some wierd frat-boy dudes took pictures for us, and I ran off to dance to Social Distortion... and some Brit Pop.
There were some gals I knew from school there, and a good time was had by...most ? I know I did.
The best bit was when I went to tell this gorgeous lad he reminded me of *sigh* Jarvis Cocker... in the best sense, of course. He blushed (oh! to blush at the right moment!...), and told me it meant a lot coming from me! Ha. Flattery will get a lovely lad more dancing, says I.
When I went to make my goodbyes, I had to give said fella a kiss on the cheek - oh so European of moi... Then he kissed me and made me promise to come back next week.
A straight dandy-dandy? Oh, yes please.
Today, I woke up early to drive a friend to the airport. She's been staying with my roommate and myself for the past month and a half; I've loved having her here, and am sad to see a good friend go. She'll be back to do more work in Banff and at the Citadel, however, so I'll see her... But the era of Nicole's and my messages in dry-eraser markers on the mirror (preferably in pirate-speak), are over.
Later, I went to a matinee of Shakespeare's Will at the Citadel. The head of the drama dept at school designed it - and he sat right by me. Ha. Think I won keener points for being there. Too bad I had a coughing fit mid-show and had to run out. It closes today, too... But I saw the costumes and set, which was all I wanted anyhow. LIghting was good, too... Ha. Also solved the awkward problem of not giving a standing ovation. ONly ever given THREE of those in my life... Such a perfect number - theatre snob that I am. I will, if a show is OUTSTANDING - but I refuse to feel pressured into giving my approval to a production.
I think I'll go smoke *ahem* something and grab a movie... Feeling a bit shyte, but it's SUNDAY... THe LONG dark teatime of the soul. Perfect for hangovers and sinners. Thankfully I'm only a sinner - today.
Pictures to follow!....(of my fetish show outfit and big red boots!... They're like Bowie's, and I got em in Cambden Town.)

I Know you and your words are ALWAYS sincere..
