Yesterday, Tom and I made our long-awaited journey the the yarn store. Hurrah!
Tom is a more practiced knitter than I; I'm beginning. I've made a few scarves and such, but am currently undertaking a bag, to carry my sketchbooks in. I always end up carrying them and burdening myself with the Elvis purse...
But I digress. The woman at the store, Ewe Asked for it (ha!), was rather helpful. She also pointed out that there's a new Stitch and Bitch book of patterns out. It's got a pattern to knit rockstar dolls. There's Joey Ramone, Henry Rollins and Joan Jett. I almost shat in the store, I was so darn excited. I know what I want for XXXmas now.
Tom got some more yarn for a sweater he's making, and I've been knitting furiously (at the bar, in classes, and anywhere in between) ever since. I've dropped a few stitches, so there are holes... But I'm still proud.
Beats sewing anyday.
Oskar, a friend of mine from class, laughed that I was knitting with red and black wool. He says that in Columbia, all the guerillas identify themselves with the colours red and black. Oskar seems to think I'm a rebel (with a cause to design?), so I've been dubbed the guerilla knitter.
Ran into misguided today, too. I wa having coffee (and knitting!) with a friend. He left us making some clever pun on the word "bi".
And the boy? Well, we're going out for drinks tomorrow. I won't be driving, either. So?
We shall see what happens.
PS. http://www.knitty.com has patterns for lingerie! Fishnets, bustiers and garters, oh my!
PPS. I just got the most random email from a friend of my brother's. It seems he's questioning his sexuality - and my brother gave my my email address, because I'm "good to talk to". Also because I'm a great big fag hag (and I've always wanted a gay brother - go figure)..... Am I now the yardstick a boy's burgeoning homosexuality is to be measured by?
Huh.
