On Sunday, I went to Langham Court theatre's costume sale and found some cute little pieces... A vintage 50s hat, a foam wig head to add to my collection, seamless stockings still in their package, a sweet Audrey Hepburn-style coat (w/ fur trim - but it's vintage, people!!! Let's keep our perspective here)... Lots of neat stuff, and also some vintage patterns, yay.
It was kinda scary in there at first, though - older women at sales are like vultures - with big angry elbows. I got a couple jabs in the ribs, then I got even. Har har.
Met a couple people from my highschool there - one finished costume design at Dalhousie, but is only working as a seamstress. This makes me happy I'm learning construction in Red Deer FIRST, then design. Pretty pictures are one thing, but being able to cut, draft and put them together helps you get a job. Yay me.
Went to karaoke at Prism and sang You made me love you - to Geena Smirnoff (instead of Clarke Gable) - and she said that if I ever decide to put on Hedwig, she'll do it. I think that next year, if I don't go to Banff for wigs and makeup, you Victorians can look forward to getting Hed at Prism or the fringe festival. We'll see. Dreaming is fun.
Now I'm off to work out and make a Frankenfurter cape, but I will leave you all with some movie dialogue:
"You Greeks invented homos!"
"Fuck you!"
"No way man, gotta buy me dinner first!"
(signal cheesy music)
"What do you think this is, Woodstock?! Get out of here!"
"Freedom of expression, man.." (throwing around nunchucks- not spelled right).
It's funnier in redneck and cheesy Greek accents. Ha ha ha. Happy Tuesday, everyone.
UPDATE:
Now along with my pseudo-photo set, there are random candid pics of me. There's one of me as Columbia, a few singing karaoke, etc, etc. Yay for feeding my narcissism!
