Today we drove to one of my very favorite places to eat. The food is always enjoyable and even though it is a restaurant of sorts, the food is homey to me. I have been eating at Captain Porky's for almost 20 years, and the owner is such a real person when you are there. It's laughable how much I enjoy seeing my wife eat then toss her hands down in accomplishment when she finish's a meal.
We took the back roads home. Choosing not to take the route we know, but instead just go where we have not before to see what opens itself to us. I find this style of life joyous. The way you feel as a child as each corner is full of surprises. I often feel just like the baby in the stroller, as they round each corner, eyes wide at all the mind has to take in. This is a form of magic in life. Offering opportunities as simple as straight roads with trees and shade, and the life you did not know was around a corner. You see people walking the sidewalks, horses on farms and birds that fly by the road. Imagining the day each one of them has, can open something inside, allowing sunshine and joy to be banked in the soul.
It has been a good day.
That being said, I feel the presence of my wife is a constant, even when challenging, making me happy in ways I struggle to understand but appreciate from deep within.
