I was scheduled to work Margaret Cho tomorrow but I got cut, because it wasn't selling so good, oh well.
I got my schedule for next month and I'll be working a Primus concert on the 22nd so that's awesome.
At the risk of sounding like a sandwich board, I could still use some help.
I have gone all in for the Design by Humans $10,000 contest.
Just click the link and use the toolbar to navigate all the designs.
-You will need a free DBH account to vote
-You can only vote once per round.
-Voting end's Sep 6th then it get's chopped down to top 20.
-Please use the "Share Design" feature for facebook, or twitter.
*Voting Optional of course, but I would really appreciate it.
Don't feel you have to only vote for me, These guys are friends of mine, and they could use the earnings just as much as I can. Please feel free to support whomever you like most.
I have 6 designs in this years contest all having to do with (in part) symmetrical abstract tribal art. I studied Polynesian art history at the University of Hawaii, and have a fascination with tribal artwork, mask, and all things related. I was just blown away with the skill of these artist in the middle of nowhere, with no formal training coming up with this incredible stuff, I also like that the artwork is a part of the culture much more then it is in the Western arts. For example there is one tribe of headhunters that uses a Praying Mantis motif, because someone observed that the praying mantis beheads it's meal, and over time it became a sort of tribal logo, or mascot. Over the past year I have tried to incorporate some of those design elements into my own work with an emphasis on symmetry. My drive is to make each design better then the last one, and be critical of my own work so I can identify possible problems that make it work or not work and try to build on that as I progress.
I usually go though a cycle of really loving the design, then hating it, then wanting to do a better one.
Now... I would be an unforgivable douche nozzle if I asked for help and didn't do anything in return.
If there are any other artist in need of promotion, Here is a list of useful sites I have collected, that you may find helpful.

*I'm not sure if it's still invite only or open beta but Threadsy is one to keep an eye on.
Think of it like a super inbox for all your different email accounts +twitter, facebook, linked in.
I'm not really that good at this promo thing to be honest, but here are a few tips I picked up...
Don't use the default text that these sites fill in for you.
Google hates copy and paste jobs, and will look at the amount of content.
So fill out a good paragraph or two, and vary it up. Strangers on the internet are not going to want to help you if you act and sound like an advertisement. (I really hope I don't sound like an ad, sorry)
use meaningful tags, more is not better, you want help people find what they are searching for.
My thoughts:
The more the merrier, and all business fail without customers, even if you are selling things at the hobby level, it never hurts to tell people about yourself or your products.
Have fun building those fans.
