Homework from @missy and @rambo!
This is really hard for me to pick. Ive been all over the world and Ive been to a lot of amazing places so I had to think of a place Id go back to right now if I could to force myself to make an urgent decision. And my answer: Istanbul, Turkey.
I went to Istanbul twice while backpacking through Europe in 2011 and it was one of my favourite cities I stayed in (Prague, Budapest, and Paris were close though!). So much so I had to return to it on the same trip!
The weather was amazing, the food was amazing, and people were friendly and helpful everywhere. There is so much history there, especially where we stayed in Sultanhemet- and hearing the call to prayer everyday was hauntingly beautiful.
I remember walking back to our hostel from the Grand Bazaar was an adventure because the back streets in that neighborhood are cobbled and it makes you feel like you are in a very old, foreign place. Having breakfast every morning on the rooftops looking out onto the Bosphorus with the sun on my face- something I need to experience again. The blend of Eastern and Western cultures, the Roman and Arab influences, the religious coexistence between Christianity and Islam was truly amazing to see firsthand.
And the food!!
I must go back!
