Why yesterday did we have the first even test of the National Emergency Broadcast system? Are the American people being forewarned of some coming event? This system was in place during the 911 attacked on September 11, 2001, why didnt the government use it then.

I don't know about the systems in the states or even in the Uk for that matter but I guess lessons were learnt from 9/11 and other worldwide events since plus techology has improved to perhaps set up such systems.

Waterfordman, the US has had that system is placed since `1971. It prements are broadcast though the US.
