My son and his friend playing PS2 games:
"You know my mom didn't have games like this when she was a kid"
"I KNOW! Back then they didn't have technology like this or anything.
"You mean like computers or anything?"
"No I don't think they even had electricity!"
"Mom, is it true you didn't have any electricity when you were a kid?"
I briefly entertained the idea of giving a speech about how instead of playing mindless games when I was their age I was busy doing such things as writing a time calculator in basic, but I just laughed and said "It's true we didn't even have electricity! And we had to walk to school ten miles there and back in snow wearing only shorts uphill both ways!"
They were both astonished. Ah I must be old!
But believe it or not actually when I was much younger and went to school in northern Japan, our uniforms really did have shorts/skirts in the winter.

If you have the oportunity to get a chance to let them listen to it you should they may find it very enlightening. Plus it would proove your story true and then they'll believe just about anything you tell them.
As evil as it may be...
