I have to admit that lately I have been so dang busy what with my plans for world domination that alas 'tis true I have not kept up with my friends like I should.
First a word about friendship. There are those kinds of friends who like me are fairly low maintenance. You get together or talk and have the greatest time in the world, get crazy, whathaveyou and then it goes:
"Oh we just HAVE to do this more often. I miss you."
"Absolutely! I agree...I miss you too!"
Both of you know while both of you might mean it, it's probably won't happen any time soon and this has nothing to do with the state of your friendship, it's just the way things are and it's impossible for such busy people to maintain a constant state of togetherness or even in many cases, contact. (Of course should some actual crisis arise you would be there in a heartbeat no questions asked. Accidents involving a friend, two wrestlers and a midget might not have such a high priority, but you get what I mean).
Then "more often" ends up being a month or two or twenty-four and then the next time you get together you can pick-up again like you just saw them yesterday. Or maybe they call you up to come to their party and bam there you are. Good times. Good times.
Then there are those friends who don't really understand this concept (we like to call them needy).
And so it goes, every time I call up a friend-in-constant-state-of-need I have to hear 30-minutes of bitching about how worried they have been about me / hurt that I haven't called them...etc., usually ending the conversation with their plea "please don't do that to me again....I want to hear from you more often...etc." I say....if you need something or want to talk, feel free to call me and I may or maynot respond. If they really are so offended and hurt by my lack of consideration, then why oh why do they still want to be my friend? EGO sum non intellectum
Perhaps I should change my voicemail to mirror that of my sisters' "I can't come to the phone right now as I am avoiding some bloody idiot. If I don't call you back that person is you. Love ya! Ciao!" With a perfect accent mind you so people will assume it's all just part of her polite demeanor. But something tells me it won't be any good.
But seriously, if familiarity breeds contempt. If it is preferable to inspire with one's friendship. Make others feel good, witty, pretty, wise, funny about themselves, does it not stand to reason that less is more?
There will always be best friends and there will always be the friend-of-the-moment and there will always casual friends and so on and so forth. But I don't think every friend can be everything all the time.....but what do I know.

But feel free to invite me to your next party....I do a great Mikura Suzuki impersonation! Ha!
And thank you kindly to all the folks who liked my snow pics and said so in eMails and comments. I had some more to post but when I was looking through them the only other ones with me in them were me lying prone with my .300 Win Mag, which I just assumed many here would find less than appropriate. But thanks!
