ugh, after about 10hrs of data moving(two internal HDD's on the laptop so backup==easy), scans, various testing, and failed reinstalls(damned SATA) I had to resort to the emergency dvd's I created before Upgrading the laptop from Vista to XP. Unfortunately, the custom installation cd's I had made for that conversion didn't work the way I thought and well...that's probably why I never felt it was a solid configuration anyway. The punkness is that my IN for cheaper software's giving me crap over a replacement XPsp2 disc atm. So I have to deal with the OS I never wanted on a laptop for now :-(
BTW, it's STILL downloading updates....the ISP connection went down right in the middle of all this for like 4-5hrs....and I don't feel secure yet because I'm not sure my current firewall stuff is vista compatable (and I'm sure as hell not buying a new one for a temp solution).....have I mentioned Vista and Laptop is bad juju?
