Hey Ya'll!
So it's been a bit since I've done a proper blog, and really probably will be before I do again. I've been having lots of fun adventures both here in Japan and recently in Singapore and Australia as well! I'll attempt the amazing feet of keeping this relatively short hahaha (it's not a height joke I swear!). There will be much photo spam but I do believe a picture can say a thousand words so I'll save all ya'll the essay. I've got a heap of pics from everything so I'll try to keep it to a few and my best/most favorite from each place. Leading up to my trip to Singapore and Aus for my little bro's wedding a spent some extra time with the gf. So I caught up with her back in Yokohama and we went adventuring in Kamakura! One of these days I'll figure out how to keep these in order ><
I couldn't help but include this, saw it randomly waiting for the train from Yokohama, my inner nerd couldn't resist = )
fun with panoramics, I had lots and you can see some nifty skyline = )
chilling at a park til the gf got off work
I want one of these...super command vehicle from some tv show on display in the Nissan bldg = )
back in the park, very peaceful spot. Sometimes it's surprising what sits just around the corner, my gf has worked near here for years but never been, I'll fix that ; )
they're everywhere too, just not all all over like starbucks!
told ya'll I'd get a shot of this place with my good camera!
empty parking lot reclamation, look I found another field! @dutch = )
Japanese style dinner! It was very very good! These chicken cheese filled meat balls where delicious!
chicken hearts on a stick, yes! One of my favorite special occasion breakfast foods, on a kebab, woohoo!
who knew Japan was this redneck? totally awesome btw! = )
Hokokoji Temple, Bamboo garden of Kamakura!
being from WA state I'm not really big on umbrellas and rain hardly keeps me from doing anything, but when you get around mostly by foot, well it's much more practical lol
We had some really good traditional green tea here, it was awesome! Despite the rain = )
had another nerd moment in a gift shop outside the big Kamakura Buddha temple, how many do you recognize?
Cloud is definitely my favorite = )
the Big Buddha of Kamakura
guardian lion rawr!
I was inside buddha = (...as uh, interesting as that was I still feel kinda dirty/creeped out and for only 20 yen more! (20 cents)
yeah this is a repeat but definitely a highlight, their friend that took the photos had a camera in each hand holding one over the other gangsta style. I don't think I've ever seen that before or likely to see it agian hahaha
the last temple on the hillside, it had a really nifty bat cave! There was other stuff in it, but bat cave man, bat cave! = D
I was pretty beat after all the fun and had my first beef bowl ever. I was so tired I said this water tastes funny, my gf said, 'that's tea' >< lol
That was really fun and the two of us had a blast, after that it was off to the airport and on to Singapore! Chilling here for 24 hr and kicking it with @almost_missed was fantastic. It's a crazy awesome city architecturally, soo many modern buildings, art/sculpture, and just green space tied into everything, literally! I was amazed how many buildings had trees growing on them somewhere. Though there are certainly some interesting trade offs, just ask our favorite native! We had a great time just shooting the shit and having some drinks, Tiger beer is awesome btw! I got a little tour of the nightlife, had more drinks and hookah, and saw the craziness that is the Singapore red light district. I definitely like Amsterdam's better. Singapore's was much more creepy/seedy but the area really struck me as not having changed much at all throughout the decades. We grabbed some chicken and rice at a corner shop and I'd swear the only thing that'd be different there was the ipads a few people had could've been swapped by box tv's or radios depending on the era, instant time warp! The next day, which was a very glorious morning btw, we started our tour at the first ever fire department in Singapore. I just happened to see a poster on the wall of my backpacker in and totally lucked out, it was wicked kewl and I got a bunch of fire patches! Then we hit china town, little india, checked out the hugest bookstore in Singapore that Almost knows about and then ended things 56 floors up at the uber big mall/office monstrosity!
things at the duty free shop rather summed up a lot of asian preferences, like green tea EVERYTHING!!! = D
Osaka lions
layover park, I got out and stretched my legs a bit, next time Osaka I'll stretch them alot! = )
apparently these where the thing to build at one point lol
view from the airport lookin out on Osaka, the airport was on an island. That's just good planning...or is it? = X
mornin in Singapore! = D
stayed in a backpacker pub, greatest idea ever!
Our favorite native!
I totally want one of these!
Different countries, different fire protection ideas/equipment, sooo much kewl stuff! = )
retired fireman, he was in half the black n white photos everywhere! = )
china town!
I couldn't help getting a close up on this dude's face! I'll bet he's ready to fire off a fireball, just from the other end lol
Lotus flowers on the roof, flower of Singapore!
ooo shiny!
rock n roll buddha!
yeah, this happened! couldn't pass it up = )
the only real Indian in little India!
56 floors up
my inner nerd couldn't help this either hahahaha = D
Singapore Lion!
Yeah Singapore was really fun, thanks for the tour Almost_missed! Hope to return the favor in Japan sometime = )
After that it was on to Aus! Where I had a ripper of a time chillin with some real cruisers. Newcastle was fun! Went for a beach day with the fam like the crazy bunch of tourists we where, saw the bogey hole, ocean walk, and loads of roos and Aussie animals! Biggest difference was the birds for me, parrots everywhere of all kinds, crazy magpies that sounded like lambs and all kinds of other funky noises! I also made the little bros wedding and got some awesome sunset shots/moon shots, quite proud of both = )
my first Aus sunrise from the airport in Melbourne before my connecting flight, it's been six years since the last one! = X
My amazing breakfast! Had the same thing for dinner on my way out, could you say no? lol = )
the beach in Newcastle!
yup we're all crazies!
even my ma = )
Oakvale farms! Sooo many neat native critters = )
I palmed a drop bear! = X
the amazing and deadly Cassowary! this crazy huge prehistoric blue turkey is endangered = (
aw, mom came over for a bite and I got some close ups of this cute little guy = )
this one's just for you @ecco
Kookaburra!
wallabies, these guys where very skittish
the roos were decidedly not. 'Give me the food bag already human!' lol
Crikey mate, would ya look at that fresh water croc! = X
clown sighting enroute to the wedding, my little bro was like shoot em shoot em!...phrasing! >< lol
the bogey hole, because convict carved sea baths are historic! I didn't go for a swim, this time, next time for sure = )
and we're ready
the sky was absolutely gorgeous out near the reception where we took lots of photos of the wedding party
and of course these two! = )
aw
I'm still not sure what to make of this one, I guess nude is still 70% on by nature's standards, but the fact I got all the 'grandparents to be' in it, awesome! I have a bet with my dad, I'll be an uncle within a year ; )
the full moon hit while we where there and this happened!
so naturally I snuck in one of these! ; )
And thus ended my uber awesome trip to Singapore and Aus! I did return to a very nice surprise though
this amazing gal called in sick to work saying she'd come in late just to meet me at the airport! She also snuck into my hotel (cause apparently in Japan when you get a room for one you're not supposed to have guests) and hung out with me the day before I flew out. So I've got a nice little surprise for her tonight, I bought her a pair of Aus opal earrings. Lookin forward to givin them to her = ) Plus I brought back some Tim Tam biscuits! = D
Ya'll have been busy too, lots of sets and good things but I'll get to that in my next one. Ya'll have an amazing weekend! I know I will ; )
~Pyrdaemon out!
