Hey hey ya'll!
So it's been another fantastic weekend here in Japan. We kicked things off early friday afternoon with a trip to an all you can eat/drink Korean style bbq place (close enough lol) for one of our guys going away. Who's we? About 40 fire fighters! The house was packed! We all ate and drank to our hearts content. Then there was speeches and fanfare. Only one guy got completely trashed, terribly funny. He was sooo gone, light weight heheheh. We got him back to his room safely and then left to continue things at bar row. We all had lots of fun, I even had more than enough to drink so I got my dance on. Epic start to a great weekend.
Saturday we had a relatively quiet shift, our JN's made curry and bbq short ribs for lunch that was really good. Then we made basil tomato spaghetti with super death garlic bread. I think my shift cooks with garlic too much, they made it pretty strong lol. On the plus side we confirmed there are no vampires on my shift.
Then Sunday I went on a really fun date to...
A squirrel park in Machida! Pretty random but I figured sounded fun, plus she'd never heard of the place and she's Japanese lol. I was out with one of the gals I met in Yokohama the week before. So we went here, fed some squirrels and saw some neat critters. To include two massive tortoises and then we went to this super awesome park right next to the squirrely place with more critters and awesome old buildings.
these squirrels where really rad
I couldn't not take a shot of this one.
If you look closely you can see me too.
The forecast was for cloudy but I slightly regret not bringing my uber camera, next time. At any rate, the park we went to next was super awesome and if I had brought my camera I never would have discovered the amazingness that is the panoramic feature of the iphone. Wicked kewl!
these flowers where really awesome, this pic kinda flooded out the lavender color but it's still not bad. I'm not sure what it is.
The fish where really creepy, they knew you where there and would swarm below you. Big bastards too, 2-3 ft long and one or two that where massive and closer to 4!
This deck was covered in turtles, something spooked them and they all jumped off lemming style about five minutes before I got them storming back on. It was pretty neat to see. Also particularly funny cause a bunch of them fell back in in the process lol
for as old as this place is, it really tickled me they put a fire alarm in it, so naturally I couldn't resist a pic
Take a close look in the middle, this place blended right in, also very awesome cherry tree still in bloom. Most of the ones near my have stopped but others are just starting so it's the perfect time to travel around.
This waterfall spot was really awesome, there where a few fish up here too but there was another dude taking pictures so I snapped this one for now. I'm definitely coming by again and getting more of this spot and the fish with my big one.
One last shot of turtles and some tall grass = )
After all that wandering around I'd worked up a pretty good appetite. So we went and found a shuba shuba place so I could try some Japanese style food. Man was it good! Basically they bring out a pot and it's half water half sauce of your choosing. We went with this stuff that tasted a little like teriyaki sauce ( pretty sure I just butchered that lol). Then you get a bunch of veggies and whatever else from this buffet, toss it in, pull it out and eat! It was really super good. Trippiest part for me was the egg (little bowl on the right in the pic below), I thought we'd throw them in the pot but we just broke them in the bowl, stirred em up and dipped the meat in it and then ate it with raw egg, Rocky style! The eggs here are really orange just like the eggs in europe. We got fairly stuffed it was reaaally good! Soo good I almost forgot to take a picture. I'm quicker on the draw than my date's ninja skillz!
After dinner we where gunna check out a nearby bamboo forest park but it closed kinda early so we wandered around and found an arcade instead. Which was epic! We played some mario kart, she beat me 2/3. I tried this wicked kewl game that used two pistols wii style with joysticks and extra buttons on them. The pistols even maglocked together sideways and on top of each other for special moves, it was really nifty. I was tempted to try another game that had this big cock pit but it looked a little fancy and beyond what you can just jump into when you don't know the language well at all, maybe next time. We played one of those duel shooter games that turned out really neat. It was a pirate style harpoon game that I thought would be kinda lame (they didn't have anything like house of the dead or jurassic park). Turned out the whole thing moved, I was NOT expecting that, it also had a little steering wheel for some parts, it was a great pick. Then we played air hockey, which is always awesome! I won 2/3 this time, it was very challenging. The view was quite distracting, the angle was rather in my favor = ) It was a little different too, occasionally it would dump all these mini pucks on the rink, it was madness! That place was really fun, we watched some kids playing DDR and the newer konnect style version. They where pretty into it hahaha. After that we wandered around a bit more, cooled off at a different nearby park that had a little sumo ring in the play area, along with a zip line, swings, and a balance course.
On the way back towards the train station we came across a restaurant with my name on it, so naturally we stopped in for a bite. It was pretty good!
I forget how big I am sometimes, and then I see me standing around in a picture lol
She played a few of those games that are just fun because they come out all funny. The best was one where you say the first adjective you think of for the following things a dog, a cat, coffee, and the sea. Try it yourself and click to see what I said and what it supposedly 'means' lol = )
Then it was off for home. So that was a really good fun day. I got the trains figured out fairly well at this point, can't for the life of me figure out how the fares work exactly though so I just got a card and loaded it with cash so I don't have to worry about it, win!
There's been several more fun developments with ya'll, though I've been a bit distracted and so I hope I didn't miss anything.

@flowerbomb put out a really fun challenge for her debut set New Americana if it reached 1000 likes within a week she'd reward the first five folks to correctly guess what little critter made a cameo in her set. See if you can find it yourself, it's a caterpillar, and got into several of them. It made it late last night here with just a few hours to spare I think it was around 0130ish and I made it in at #4 and @almost_missed made it in at #5 it's good to have him active with us again! I was at work and my battery was startin to get pretty low, so I was checkin every 30 then 15 minutes after it was at 999. Trying not to kill my battery lol It was really fun = )
Ya'll have put out lots of fun 10 things blogs that continue to be great to read, my favorite so far is @marajade she included some very fun/interesting stuff to read about the grimm fairy tales.
That's all I gots for this week, ya'll stay frosty...especially if you're lucky enough to still have snow! So jealous!!! Oh yeah I also saw/heard my first Japanese bat out walkin along the river tonight. Heard it first then saw it flitting around like they do, little guy, made my night!
