Hey Ya'll,
I've been on quasi lock down here the past week. Everything's good but until I get my base new guy briefing and other training I'm not supposed to leave base without a sitter. In this case a senior NCO who's filled out a memorandum...so uh fuck all that I'll just unpack and do important stuff like get a shower curtain and realize my new place comes with a couch that's actually pretty sweet! Gooodbye chair! It's great finding out about rules, especially ones you've already broke in less than an hour of arriving...oops! = X Slight buzz kill on the weekend because I really can't wait to go out and explore! Especially since it was probably the last full weekend I'll have off for awhile but eh. I'll be causing little trouble in big Tokyo soon enough! It was nice to just relax a bit, get past the jet lag and check out things on base. Curfew is a beast and a lot of the lame rules are from something a few num nutz did a few years back so not dealing with it isn't so bad. We had a curfew in Korea too but that was til 1 am, here it's at 12 am plus you have to have a buddy with you after 9 pm. Or just not come back or get found before 5 am, best option being a hotel.
Just stayin on base this weekend I finished my epic blog! That was a beast. lol I expertly managed to load the photos drastically out of order so many times I had to break to go drink and come back. Mostly cause it was just that time. A few of the guys swung by and tried to get a hold of me on facebook. I'm pretty sure I unintentionally deleted his friend request. >< I'll get a phone soon anyway and it won't really matter. I kinda like being somewhat disconnected and since I can't really do anything fun just yet it's less temptation. But I caught them on the way out at 1100 ish pm, light weights! They did work the next day so I get it. I think I've been in Korea too long, a year of going out en masse with every new guy first chance and seeing everyone off with the same fare kinda raises your expectations. There was good news and bad news at the bar. Good news it's not like Germany where you can drink at basically any age, so there isn't a creepy amount of high schoolers trying to be cool. Bad news it was very black and hip hop. Nothing I have an issue with just obviously not my scene. It was about 45% black 45% japanese and 10% other. On the plus side my exotic ratio is high and there was lots of ladies! So after I had plenty to drink and actually hung out with my new troop a bit who was on his k-day, good kid, I got someone to dance with and left with a number. Not a bad start. My troop is an interesting one too, dude was all dressed up nice and wearing a tie, which actually wasn't terribly out of place. One of the down sides to middle of nowhere GA, if you dressed up much...at all as a dude beyond a collared shirt, you either looked really preppy or really gay...or both. Unless you where part of bachelor party/wedding party or in the creepy cougar bar. Bigger cities you can still get away with jeans and a t-shirt, but you're better off with something a little nicer.
The next evening things where the same, I was kinda hoping they might change it up a bit but no dice. I apparently taught the bartender how to make Jack n coke, kinda odd not to be on the menu but hey it was lots cheaper than in Korea so I was happy. I then met some minnesota guard guys and picked there brains on what they learned not to do off base in 2 weeks. They where slightly odd and out of place but brought me good beer (Sapporo) I didn't ask for so I didn't mind em. There was also this black frat reunion thing or something going on in a different area, which I thought was kinda funny. So lots of folks dressed up nice and with beads and masks. I also got a crash course on how to be a bad guy on a mike. You just say "DJ X on the 1's and 2's," "turned up," and "something something about your mother, your father, your sister get out your seat and dance," repeatedly and in slightly varying order and mention the next song. I was glad when he sat back down, it was so bad it was funny though.
Speaking of funny and now that I've rambled ya'lls eyes out. I was watching Bo Burnham's comedy 'what' again just cause. When my lap top crashed cause it has an annoying virus. While it rebooted it dawned on me I could be laying in the sweet newish couch my new dorm/apartment came with. So that made things much much better! = ) But I shared a clip of him already so I've got this for ya'll instead. I don't think there's really much all that sacred to comedians so just a fair warning it's slightly tongue in cheek racist but much less offensive in general than Bo can be. He's also a pretty good ventriloquist with too many puppets, here's two of my favorites.
Ya'll are a bunch of comedians too, I noticed there's 29 likes on my almost 30 blog I did. lol nice = ) I also got some good news, my tmo got here like a week after I left Korea. So I got it set up to be delivered on Friday. It'll be good to have my big computer again, and my bike seeing as I won't be bothering with a car for awhile. The cars driving on the left is really creepin me out, so I'll wait til it seems a bit more normal. Anyhow, that's it for now. Hope ya'll have a great week! = )
