So I've mentioned a time or two I'm a WoW nerd. Something I'm not by any means ashamed of but I usually don't draw any attention to, as there's a lot of terrible misconceptions out there like we're all horrible pimply cave trolls or something. Also I've heard all kinds of stories from people about this or that person, friend, relative, ex etc that plays too much or to the exclusion of having a life or treating other people like people and so therefore anyone that plays is some kind of loser, abominable pile of fail, bad vibes assholish magnet etc. And any admonition to doing so is a massive turn off. I get it, I don't get those that think WoW is their life and therefore have none. It would extremely suck if something happened to my account, it's a big hobby I've invested a lot of time and energy into and I take a measure of pride from.
I had an especially awesome day playing a few days back that I just wanted to share. Some of the guys I've played with for a long time, since classic, came back and started playing again. It's been about 2 yrs now they've been away so I'm excited to have my old pvp pals back. They dominated the grand marshal (highest pvp rank) titles on my server for years and I earned my field marshal title (2nd highest) playing with them. I pvp a lot but don't often find consistent groups to arena with, which is the best/most consistent way to get the top pvp gear. More than that though it's just fun, gearing up all the way puts you on an even playing field so your ability as a player becomes the bigger factor. Though WoW is very much a fancy rock paper scissors arrangement, you can still beat paper with rock if you know what your doing, get a little lucky, and use everything to your advantage you can. My main is a combat rogue and my friends play a feral druid and discipline priest (for the few of you who know what that means lol). Basicly me and the druid sneak around, pick a target and tear it to pieces while our priest friend stays alive and heals himself and us. Pictures to follow! I forget you can take pics in game so I snapped a few to share = )
Here's my rogue chillin in the pvp duds on my farm with my faithful worg pup (he ate a special biscuit so he looks bigger) and farm dog. Soon I'll have big pvp saber cat mount!
My rogue in raiding gear/pve stuff when I'm not having horde for breakfast or owning faces in pvp.
My bad ass Netherdrake, there was an epic quest chain in Burning Crusade to get one of these guys so I'm very proud of him!
My monk (pvp heals mostly) and her pet tiger. I think he wants to eat the turtle! = X
Montage Training Randomness on a mtn sticking out of the ocean before Arenas!
My disc priest, just hit 90 with her and I'm slowly gearing her up.
Anyway, we've been tearing it up in 3v3 arenas and gearing up. One particular class we've had alot of trouble with is the punchy wind walker monk. It's the latest class, is very resilient and has lots of stuns and self heals. They're tough to take down. I really wish I'd had a video of this to share because it was the funniest thing I've seen in game for awhile (you can take in game videos I'm just not that into it, maybe I'll try one next time!). Typically in 3's the idea is to isolate one and keep his pals from interfering with you tearing them apart long enough for you to do it, or just getting the drop on them and taking one out quickly before they have much of a chance to use all their abilities to not die, we often start on the healer or weakest link. In this one match in one of the round roman style arenas, think gladiator, the doors pop open and this monk does his flying kick and charges waaay out away from his buddies coming straight at us like he's some kind of bad ass. I couldn't have been more shocked and the druid and I immediately pounce on the guy, I dropped a smoke bomb so his healer couldn't save him and he instantaneously exploded. It was glorious! We typically kill monks last as they're just damn hard to pin down and kill, but this guy just volunteered for our meat grinder so we turned him into kitty chow! He died in like 3 seconds, it was so fast I'm pretty sure he had no idea what hit him, and with my smoke bomb down by the time he made it near the edge where he might get a heal or any kind of aid he flops on the ground dead. It's the fastest I've seen one with gear die and it just made my day! For me it was like that moment in Napoleon Dynamite when the school bus drives by the cow right before it gets put down and all the children scream. I couldn't stop laughing or rewinding it in my head! It was like the whole thing was in slow motion. He jumps right into our laps and I'm just watching this guy going is he for real. Ok, stun, smoke bomb, stab stab stab >= D Happy Rogue = ) I do have something slightly against them as they're a huge rock to my scissors, especially 1 v 1, so my options are typically limited to dirty underhanded unsportsmanlike tricks or living to fight another day. I find both fairly disagreeable so it was quite enjoyable!
For the dedicated few that read all that, thanks. Hope ya'll enjoyed the pictures. = )
