Well. Today was interesting. My co-workers and I were relocated accross the call floor to desks that suck. That was bad enough, but one of the desks is a bit more private and I wanted it and my co-worker, who has worked at this job for as many months as I have years and is mediocre on her best day, decided that she should have it. She got it. I was more pissed than the situation warranted and I was in a really bad mood all day.
After I regained a bit of my composure I talked to my boss and told him my problem really didn't have much to do with where I sit and pretty much everything to do with my frustration over the fact that I'm still a part-time employee. I work 40 hrs. a week, but I don't get benefits. No insurance, no sick days, nothing. Having blood pressure as high as mine is (170 over 140) I need to see a doctor and I need meds, but I can't because I can't afford it. If my kids get sick I have to pay cash and it is *so* expensive.
The cool thing was that he was totally behind me. He said I did good work and felt that I deserved it and would recommend that I get a full-time position. He promised to talk to his boss about it as soon as possible. Even if I don't get it it's definitely nice to be appreciated. I really like working for him.
Plus he's funny as hell.
My day got much better after that.

As a nurse in training, holy shit! I'm going to personally beat your boss' boss into submission until he gives you health insurance! Glad your day got better though :o)
