Thanksgiving was a bit lackluster as holidays go. Everyone in my family was hanging out with the families of their significant others on Thanksgiving itself, so my family got together yesterday (Friday) instead. I misunderstood the timing. It started at 10:30 AM and I thought it was supposed to be 1:30 PM. When we finally arrived it only took like a half hour before everyone started leaving, starting with my mother whom I hadn't seen in months.
I had also assumed that we would have a Thanksgiving banquet, but as it turned out I was wrong.
It was bagels, donuts (that were fricken *awesome* as donuts go) and some fruit. I did get my hands on some awesome homemade pumpkin pie, which is my favorite part of Thanksgiving anyway.
I also got some awesome soup that my brother-in-laws's mother made.
My nephew came back with us to the apartment for the weekend. That is awesome. I'm going to take him with me to DnD night, which has been more of a Halo night recently, and he will pwn my friends (at Halo, not DnD) which I know because he kicked my ass.
I also left my older son Logan with my sister. She loves him a lot. I never really realized growing up that my sister cared so much about me. She loves him because he's a sweet kid and because he's her nephew, but I can see, somehow, that part of her love for him is because he reminds her of me as a child. I'm very fortunate to have a family as wonderful as mine.
So, Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving turned out to be chicken alfredo, and Thanksgiving dinner on the day I thought i would be having Thanksgiving dinner turned out to be pizza. This is the part where I would make some long-winded and heartfelt speech about the true meaning of Thanksgiving if I were so inclined. I'm not so inclined. William S. Burroughs gave me the last word on that this year.
