I've wanted to do this blog for a while
I love South Africa, i don't think I could live anywhere else, so thats what my blog is gonna be about Just to tell you a little bit about it: good and bad.
I do have some un-SA related stuff to say but that will be at the end of the blog.
So we have 11 official languages:
Afrikaans
English
IsiNdebele
IsiXhosa
IsiZulu
Sepedi
Sesotho
Setswana
SiSwati
Tshivenda
Xitsonga
I studied Zulu in high school and I recently i was teaching Denie to say some phrases and words
I told her the word for cellphone, umakhalekhukwini ( directly translated to the thing that cries in your pocket, how cute is that!) She sent me a video and she actually got the pronounciation spot on!
Our president in called Jacob Zuma and he leads the ANC party; the party that Mandela led during and after the Apartheid. This is him:
Zuma has had four wives, most of them simultaneously which is normal in his culture. He has 18 children.
I really hoped in vain that he wouldnt be elected since before he was charged with fraud and corruption on many counts as well as a rape charge. All these were dropped on technicalities to do with the investigations.
There are many good and weird things that I love about this country I heard a bulletin on the news telling drivers to be cautious on a certain road because a taxi's petrol tank had fallen out of it!!!
I laughed SO hard! I mean how random is that?
I think I have to post a pic of a true South African taxi so you don't get them confused with the well working and clean American and British taxis:
Yes, beautiful huh? Hahahaha! These overload in a MAJOR way and often have cardboard breakpads. They also drive like crazy people! Hee hee!
Football is crazy popular at the moment Since 2010 is only next year we have crazy roadworks going on here, it's the largest project of its kind in the world.
These awesome hats are a regular sight at the local football games, they're made out of miners hard hats.
Frikkin awesome things I have one and I'm very proud of it.
Some random facts:
~ The British band Kaizer Chiefs is named after a South African football team from Soweto.
~ The lead singer from Seether is from South Africa and his real surname is Welgemoed, not Morgan
~ District 9 was filmed about 20minutes from where I live.
~ The Leonardo di Caprio movie "Blood Diamond" was filmed on Port Edward beach on The South African coast and not in Namibia.
~ Here the word fanny means vagina, not ass!
I can't think of more at the moment but I will add them when I do
EDIT: And to showcase pure SA beauty: Diaz in her new set Rubix Cube She is the shit!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now the un-SA things I've been looking at the awesome SG support posters for the PETA Anti-Animal testing campaign and they're pretty cool. I've collected some for you to see

I was appalled when I found this list on Quinne's blog, so I'm spreading the word.
