In 12 hours I will be heading into surgery to finally fix my hearing. Supposedly it's simple, and I'll be back home before the end of the business day. That doesn't keep me from being nervous about someone operating on my skull. Consolation comes in the form of medication. I will be unconscious during the operation, and they are sure to give me pain killers afterwards. Yummy yummy painkillers. How I love them so.
For those of you unaware, there is a hole in my right eardrum, and my left ear occasionally requires a tube placed in the inner ear or else it gets clogged - like it is now. While I'm under they'll be pulling together the two sides of the ear drum to restore hearing, and putting the tube in the left ear. I currently have about 10% of my hearing. After the surgery I should have closer to 80%. Not all, but not all bad either.
It's been an amazing month. It only seems to be getting better.

I'm less surprised at the $200 Ibuprofen and more surprised at the several-thousand-dollar "outpatient surgical procedures" I supposedly had at two different offices (this is in addition to the xrays, splinting, cast, etc etc etc). I'm very curious to find out what the hell they're charging for, there, especially since Aetna isn't covering much of it.
