It was another day driving around Portland. Voodoo for donuts, Stumptown for coffee, sushi for lunch. Intermittent rain followed by brilliant blue holes in the sky ringed by mountainous white clouds. Through the gaping portals sunlight bathed the river, and the towers of steel and glass beside it. Another breathtaking day. We only get so few days. I'm glad I can spend so many of them amazed.
My arm is fantastic. No pain, no gore, just the slow steady healing of a health problem solved. The right arm has become a bit of a problem now, though. It always feels half asleep since the surgery. All things considered it's a minor discomfort, and easily lived with. I was sure to ask the surgeon about it when I saw him on Thursday, and it's not a symptom of a more serious problem. Just an unfortunate side effect of all that had to be done to ensure my working dialysis access. In my opinion it's a small price to pay.
Tomorrow I'll be back on the East side of Portland looking at apartments. I don't expect it to be easy to find a place to live. Combine my credit problems with the strange situation of Ellen paying my rent and I do not look like the ideal tenant.
Even if the apartment hunt doesn't turn out like I hope there will still be dinner at Wong King's, which is awesome. Raseny and I went there Friday night for her birthday. Finally, I have had Peking duck, and it was as delicious as I always thought it would be. Crispy, succulent skin over the most tender and moist duck I've ever eaten. Now that I know what I've been missing I don't want duck any other way. It's just too damn good.
Now I'm going to try and sleep. I've been up since 3am-ish, so it's late for me. Tomorrow promises to be a long day, so I should get all the sleep I can.
