I'm having fun following the Cloverfield ARG (or ARE, if you're all crazy about semantics), and watching and waiting for The Dark Knight ARG to progress again. It may be marketing at its most infectious, but it's also marketing at its most entertaining. At least it seems so to me. Even Brawndo, although I am helpless to resist its siren call, appeals to me less than finding the next clue to the back story of a movie I may or may not go see.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, start here, and search around a bit.
If that just doesn't help you can always go here and get in on the story without all that dumb sleuthing.
The Dark Knight hysteria has only just begun, and is moving agonizingly slow. However it looks like it's going to be good based on some of the puzzles and rewards that have already been unveiled, and the sheer number of "In-Game" websites being created to give the virtual Gotham a sense of depth and reality. The Gotham Times is a fun read, but if your tastes run more towards the sinister you might like the Joker's version better.
It makes me wish more companies had the resources to throw at this type of marketing. It satisfies the insomniac in me by giving me something to occupy myself with at 3am, and the consumer whore in me by tempting me with something I may wish to spend money on in the future. Truly this is a marvelous time.
