So, there's been a big blizzard in Wisconsin the last 2 days! Yesterday I got stuck in the snowdrifts on my way home from work 2 times! The first time I got my shovel out of my trunk and was working on shoveling a path when the snow plow came by. He passed and kept going because he had people following him. He must have turned around because a few minutes later he pulled up behind me and plowed out behind my car so that I could back up. Then he plowed out in front of me and I followed him half way to town before he turned around again! So, I go up the road not even a mile from that spot and I get stuck in ANOTHER snowdrift!!! Not wanting to have to be rescued again I deciced to turn my wheels hard to the left and make a break for the other side of the road (which, ironically, was in better shape than the side of the road I was driving on). This worked and I continued driving down the wrong side of the road for a while until i saw headlights coming from the other direction, then I moved back over to the proper side. Of course, since my side was in worse shape, I saw it getting thick again and just swerved to the wrong side and back again one last time! No sooner do I get into town and I get behind someone going REDICULOUSLY slow! Yep, it's my neighbor! He goes to pull into the driveway at 5 mph and of COURSE gets stuck!! I pull over and get my trusty shovel out to help him! 2 of his roomates come out and they manage to get him out of the driveway and then they shoveled it out so that we could pull in.
After all of that you think I had enough?!?
Today there wasn't much snow on the road, but it was slushing and then it snowed on top of it. Since i get out of work in the middle of the night, the roads are GUARANTEED to be icky! I am about 1/3 of the way home when Iose controll and go in the ditch. I am turned around so that I am practically in the tracks I made going in! I get out the trusty shovel and begin to shovel my way out. Of course, a good samaritan stopped in his truck to help me out. Between the two of us we managed to get me up to the 'hump' of the ditch, but we couldn't quite get over the 'hump' and back into the road. Que another truck with a much bigger man in it. He says "It's time to put all those cheeseburgers to good use" and gets behind my car while the other guy is in front on the drivers side pushing my car toward the road! Well, luck be as it may, they got me out! No $100.00 tow bill to get me out of the ditch! Needless to say, I went REAL slow the rest of the way home!
Tired of reading? I don't blame you! Got any good snow stories of your own? Feel free to share! I have a new found appreciation for them!
