so, to a point, i like working on cars. but this is getting a bit tiresome lately.
my mazda blew a head gasket and is totally dead. i'm trying to figure out how i can get rid of it without taking a total loss since i put in a lot of money on that bitch before she finally gave up on me.
i spent today doing routine maintenance on the honda i just bought since i do not trust the previous owner to have done any of that kind of stuff in the last year. just as i suspected... the oil pan plug is stripped. fuck. the oil filter was tightened on by fucking he-man (or perhaps shee-ra?). there isn't enough room to fit a screw driver to puncture the filter to loosen it that way. fuck again. the radiator was full of rust so i flushed that and am running a cleaner through it over the weekend (not so much a fuck, that seems easy enough to fix). while under the car trying to get to the oil filter, i noticed that the cv boots are non existant. shitty...
all in all, i only planned on having this car for a short period while waiting to find the car i really want. i picked it up for $400 and it's in beautiful shape other than the little things i mentioned. the first owner kept o.c.d. style maintenance records. aside from a broken window crank, the car is pristine. so i can easily get 3-4 times more for it than what i paid for.
i'm waiting to hear back from the seller of the cabrio i found. i hope i get it. my standards are low. i don't need a brand new, top of the line car. i just want something small and fast and convertible
i'm off to shower all the motor oil off and hit the books...
