I've never done one of these before, but this one seemed like a fun one to start with @missy @rambo. Brace yourself, it's going to be a long one.
I didn't have the best time growing up, I think it's because of that my memories are a bit fuzzy. I don't remember having a lot of celebrity crushes until I was about 15. I had crushes on friends, their older sisters, a teacher... but I can't think of many famous people. I do remember one early crush through...
Darlene from Roseanna AKA Sara Gilbert
I loved Darlene when I was growing up, she wasn't like most girls on TV. She was tomboyish and sarcastic and cynical, and I wanted to be her best friend. I still have a thing for grown-up Sara Gilbert.
Skip ahead a few years and then I remember a lot more of my crushes. Most of them from bands. Shirley Manson was an early obsession, Garbage's first album was the first I ever bought, and as it happens, lost my virginity to. I had a big poster of Brody Dalle on my wall for many years... The things she must have seen. Amy Lee of Evanescence needs a mention too. I only wish I'd been aware of the whole riot grrl scene when it was at it's height... I only discovered the likes of Babes in Toyland, L7, etc after it was all over (although last year I got to see both those bands on reunion tours!)
The most enduring crush on a girl in a band is Mercedes Lander.
Let's be honest, all these girls did it for me, but my crush on Mercedes (bottom right) has only grown. I discovered Kittie when I was 16, they were about the same age, I was just getting into metal, just starting to learn what type of girls I liked, it was a perfect storm. Mercedes has just gotten hotter over the years, and following her on Twitter has fought me she's a really cool person as well.
And she has a tattoo of the god damn Enterprise on her arm, I mean, could she be more perfect?
An honourable mention goes to Jane Lane. If you ignore the fact she's a cartoon, I think we could have had something special.
