You looked at me and walked away without saying hello or goodbye
As if you had forgotten my name long ago
Now you call me past tense
You precede my stature by
The 24th letter
Of the alphabet canceling me out
One line across the other across my face
Devaluing me and what I used to be
reminding me that what is past tense cannot be revisited like a destination on a vacation
but instead is a place where,
in the future,
you cant remember if you ever knew.
