I find myself reflecting on who I am a lot these days and wonder if I'm too "Jack of all trades" to truly belong to any group, because a lot of things conflict. So here's what I am.
I'm a Punk, I love punk music, I love to see small unknown bands play, I have very strong political views and stand for a fairer better world (It's better to stand for something than against I say). A non punk friend said to me the other night "can't you seperate out the politics, it doesn't seem very fun" I told him it was impossible, whilst a big part of punk is having fun, sitting round discussing politics and rallying to a cause is just part of the excitement. I love the style, my custom vest is my pride and joy, everyone around can one but your's is still unique and I love having my mohawk.
I love tattoos, I may only have 2 right now but plan on a lot more, skin is just dull and they are mega sexy on a girl.
I'm a Geek, this part of me I tried to hide as a teenager in order to "fit in" before I was a Punk. But I love Dinosaurs, computer games, sci-fi, some anime, history, stratergy (even though I deplore violence and war I love studying the tactics used in ancient conflict), I love films and TV
I'm a Paintballer, this is a true passion, it takes serious love of the game to get up at 5am on you days off, drive a couple of hours and go through what we do just to play paintball for a few hours.
I love being physically active, I go to the gym several times a week, I cycle to and from work when I can, I do 2 martial arts, Southern Dragon Kung Fu and Tai Chi, I play football from time to time and dabble in other sports.
I also have friends who are quiet mainstream, they go to mainstream bars and clubs, have normal haircuts, dress normally and blend into a crowd, I'm basically the "token" alternative type of the group
You can sort of see how some of those conflict, my mainstream friends give me banter over my punk and geek sides, being so physically active and sporty is quite contrary to my geek and to some extent my punk side and vice versa, I may work out and practice martial arts but I hate fighting and will avoid it as much as possible, those things are simply a way to make me feel good about myself, ensure I stay healthy and so I could protect someone I loved if needed. I really hate all violence and things like martial arts and paintball aren't violent at all, the formers about self-control and I know it's a cliche but inner peace and paintball is in the tournament format a sport and scenario a great release from stress.
I love being so diverse, it means I'm rarely bored, but it also mean I'm not completely expert in any one area so it's hard to be the distinctive in that area, I know it's great for a guy to have hobbies and interesting interests and that is postive trait, it shows I have my shit together, am confident and enjoy life , but I also wonder if my life appears so hectic, busy and full so a girl may not be able to see how they would fit in and think that I wouldn't have time for them, but hey, life is better shared and I know how to prioritise
And just for fun here's a picture of me and my family's cat, I can get him to give me "nogging" but struggling to get him to give me "fin" (or paw in his case) and go "duuuddddeee" (Yes it's a Finding Nemo reference! )

Keep at all that stuff you do! You'll run in to a hottie someday while you're doing all that and she'll join ya in the fun! And keep sticking out from the crowd.
