Back from my epic weekend at the North v South paintball festival in the midlands and had such a great time.
Friday day night we did a night op followed by some relaxed drinking back at the campsite, the game was actually really instense but would have been better if I had a torchm couldn't see shit
Saturday, did a bit of CQB (Close Quarters Combat) training followed by what I usually do, speedball (tournament paintball) in the mega arena ripping it up. I ended up spending 2 hours driving back forth making a beer and pizza run to the nearest village then somewhere else to get petrol for our generator, which was actually awesome because me and my mate were blasting music, mainly Green Day and singing our heads off ragging my car down these countries roads. Once back at camp we had a serious party going on, the generator was needed to power my buddies speakers, DJ decks and lights out of the back of his van and we had the best party on the campsite, paintballers know how to party!
Sunday was the main event, the North vs South big game with over 1700 players in attendence this year, the day's play started off with my squad heading straight for the enemy spawn point in order to act as a delaying force, the end result was us being surrounded by 200+ enemies and getting wiped out but we at least did our job. As the days play went on the fighting intensified around the objectives and it was anyones game. The final objective was this compound with concrete block walls and a bunker at the centre, the North orginally held it but we managed to storm it and hold it for an hour before losing it again, at which point it was so close to the end and most of the South were low on paint with not enough time to get more so a counter attack was not an option.
With this in mind and just 200 paintballs left myself I proceeded to single handedly charge an enemey crossroads with enemies in 2 directions, getting to within 20 metres of their lines and unloading all my paint before they got me and I got the light the fuck up like a Christmas tree, but at least it was glorious death
There will be more photos once the photograhpers have uploaded them but in the mean time I shall leave you with one of my knees, which got incredibly bad sweat rash from my knee pads early in the day but I kept playing for hours before removing them, and yes it was as painful as it looks
I also met a guy called Greg Hastings, who's one of the biggest names in paintball and got an autographed poster
