Yet another weekend bites the dust... but a good weekend it was... so Im not complaining! Lemme think what happened this past week / weekend for ya...
I bought a kick ass bike! It rocks!!! I was literally riding it thru K-Mart like the big dork I am. People were all starring & stuff. I mean why shouldn't I ride a bike thru the store if I'm buying it ya know. Its really nice.. a cool red color & a mere $60. I've already got my money's worth on this one. I love it!!! I'm hoping to get pics w/ me & my bike soon for you all to see. I'll keep ya updated!!!
Also, this past week I got my Suicide Girls t-shirt & my SG pins that I ordered. I LOVE LOVE LOVE em!!! And they included stickers w/ my order. Woo Hoo!!! And they also included a Hot Rod condom! Suicide Girls so rocks my world!!!
Friday... went biking for a good hour & a half. Very good workout & I'm looking forward to biking more & getting some excersise.. and getting away from my computer for alittle bit every few days!
Saturday... went to Magnum Music Fest 2003 in Sidney, Ohio. Lots of punk rock bands playing ALL day long. I got there around 1pm... and my friend Josh from the band Vermiscious Knid runs up to me & hands me an extra ticket they had. So I saved paying the $12 to get in. Totally made my day! This fest was being put on by Magnum Music (local all ages venue that is all about supporting the scene) along with a bunch of their sponsors. Good show... at least 200 people were out at the peak of the show. I actually stayed for the whole show... which you will hear made for one LONG ass day!
Here's a quick rundown of the bands who played:
The Street Freaks (from Piqua, OH)... kicked off the show w/ a pretty decent set. Alot of technical difficulties though as the vocals kept cutting out.
Vermiscious Knid (from Springfield, OH).. played 2nd... and had a great set! The people really seemed to get into them! Cool rockin covers that included: Rancid "Ruby Soho" Metallica "For Whom The Bell Tolls" (totally rocks hearing a punk rock band doing a Metallica song) & Pennywise cover that had the crowd up onstage singing along. It was great & a ton of fun for being so early in the day!
PB Army (from Toledo, OH)... were just okay! I really couldn't get into them!
Evolotto (from Toledo, OH)... just okay!!!
Superjoint Ecstasy (from Lima, OH)... death metal at its finest! Very cool cover of Pantera "Walk" which was pretty much a sing along! Very cool band!
HERE'S THE POINT THAT THE RAIN CAME... Yeah, it was right around 7pm & we got a good 40 minute rainstorm that kinda put a hold on things. Some people left... some people stayed & stuck it out. After the rainstorm, it took a good hour at least to get the sound system back in decent working order. So I think the next band didnt actually hit the stage till around 8:30-9.
Race 101 (from Sidney, OH) was up next... and played a good set after a very LONG break from the rain & testical difficulties. They still rocked it out as did the crowd!
3 Below (Buffalo, NY) was up next... very cool & energetic metal band. Their lead singer totally rocked it out! Their set was cut about 2 songs short due to the cops!!!
HERE'S THE POINT OF THE SHOW WHERE THE COPS STOP THE SHOW!!! Yup, thats right! The cops showed up & told Wayne (guy putting on the show & owner of Magnum Music) that he forgot to get one of the permits he needed to do the show. So... the rest of the show was moved to downtown Sidney at of course Magnum Music. So the crowd dispersed... some people head over to Magnum while others just leave. Kinda put a damper on things as I think the bands wanted to play outside. Especially considering how long of a day it had already been with the rain & all. So the show is moved to Magnum... and there are MAJOR technical difficulties at the club... and I dont think the next band hit the stage till like 12am.
Lazy American Workers.. L.A.W. (from Toledo) played next to a pretty thin crowd. But, they still rocked it out as did the crowd that was there! L.A.W. has members of GWAR in the band. Very cool band!
Monkeynut (from Columbus)... were next. Kick ass groovecore band who I hadn't seen in a good year or two. They totally rocked it out! They play in the dark & have these neon outfits they were as well as their faces painted with these neon colored stuff. Its very cool & something to see. They rocked it out hardcore.. I even recognized some of the songs from the last time that I saw these guys. Good band.. but their set was cut short due to time limitations.
Legbone (from Dayton)... closed out one LONG ass day! Originally from Sidney... Legbone rocked it out for the remaining people that stuck it out thru the LONG day. Good set... rocking as they usually do!
And the show was done FINALLY around 2am. Yup, thats right!!! That means I endured a good 13 hours of music... on & off course! Needless to say, I was exhausted after the show was done!!!
Sleep was had... and hopefully more sleep soon!
