Good Morning SG people,
I hope this finds you well and good and gearing up for the New Year.
Did you have a good holiday? A great holiday?
Mine was wonderful, busy and fun. Christmas Eve we drove the hour and a half to my in-laws where we had dinner, had a laugh, got a little wasted (okay, that was mainly just me who has become a veritable lightweight in my dotage) , and watched It's A Wonderful Life. That movie, I want to mention, never gets old to me. A classic. Piss on that colorized version.
That night we went over to my folk's house late, where my sister and cousin were wrapping presents and drinking wine. We decided to help with the wine part, and it was so much fun. We laughed our asses off. My cousin is the most successful of the cousins . . . no need to ask her, she will let you know with alacrity and emphasis. Love her.
Christmas Morning I woke up at six-thirty, roused the house, and started making coffee and omelets for all comers. We opened presents, drank Irish Coffee, and had a huge laugh. We do a Secret Santa and I do believe that everyone really liked what they got, specifically what I got for them.
We drove home to Athens that afternoon, stopped at the house for a shower and a gift drop off (I got the greatest Geek bag ever, I am soooooo stoked!), then it was off to the home of Mr and Ms Tattoo for Christmas Dinner.
Now, I do believe that all my old friends are no longer on the site and that nobody reads any of this anyway, but for completeness sake I will mention that I have referred to the couple I call Mr and Ms Tattoo in this space for almost ten years at this point, but now that I have married the missus they are actually relations, a development I could not be happier about.
Dinner was fantastic. Ms Tattoo made a Cajun feast with gumbo, black-eyed peas, spicy corn, and soup. And she finished up with home made, from scratch, beignets! I want you all to just focus on home made beignets for a moment. Get a good mental picture. Smell them. Taste them. Dear Universe it was wonderful.
Then we went home for some Christmas Quality Personal Time. And then I did know that I was the most blessed of men.
Hope yours was wonderful. I love you all, SG friends and neighbors, and I wish you all the best for 2012. Be strong, and we'll make each other stronger.
be well,
ph
Taoist Thought of the Day: Each Moment is a New Beginning
Pet Report: Bacchus came with on our Christmas Adventure, and he was as always the star of every gathering. We left Vindaloo home, and she must have been mad lonely because she won't go more than a pace or two from us since we got home, and has become a lap and sleeping form feature.
Currently Digging: Wild Flag, my new geektastic Bag of Holding messenger bag, the Holiday Spirit, my new oversized mug, home made motherfucking beignets.
I hope this finds you well and good and gearing up for the New Year.
