I've been kicking around the last couple of days - I figure it's about time I do this up right.
Where have I been? I wish I could say I was kayaking the Nile or tobogganing down Mt. Everest. No sir, I've been working. A lot. Fifty, sixty, seventy hours a week. Its times like these I wish I was still paid hourly. See, that's where they get ya.
I could go on a long rant about the things happening at work lately, but I'll save it for later. Plus my thoughts aren't exactly lining up in a perfect row this week. I've been so slammed that sometimes I stop and stare into space for a minute or two while the jumble of to-dos, must-haves, right-nows and see-if-this-works swirl about in my head. It's like shaking a Magic 8 Ball and waiting for the little white d20 to come up.
"Reply hazy, try again."
I've got my own way of having my revenge, though: I'm taking every Friday off for the rest of the year, and a week for Christmas. Four day work weeks FTW.
Bills are getting tough these days. Everything is going up, nothing is going down. And get this: credit card companies are raising the APRs on people who default payments. Are you serious? Whose brain child is this massive mind-fuck? OK, this person is having trouble paying back their debt. I have an idea: charge them more per month in interest to recover our losses.
Smaaaaaart.
Thankfully I haven't been hit with anything like that yet. I'm doing my best to keep the card(s) current, hoping for the best. Tomorrow I have to write something up to my cable company. They bought the old company that I had service with and have already cocked up the first couple of bills they sent over. I've been billed for two months (back-billed, that is) for a service I haven't had turned on since fuckin' August. Sometimes it never ends.
I'm selling one of my basses:
It's a 2003-4 Standard Jazz Bass (i.e. Made in Mexico) and features Bartolini 9J1LS pickups and a Badass II bridge. There's a minor flaw on the very bottom of the body to the right of the strap button where a crack stretches from edge to edge. It's been there since I bought it and has never grown, chipped, or otherwise flaked. Retail it's worth about $650 (bass + pickups + bridge), so I'd like to get at least $450 out of it. If anyone local is interested, let me know. I have several more pictures.
If that makes you sad, it's OK, I have others that I don't plan to sell. All I'm doing is separating a litter of kittens, here.
I'm also going to sell my 15" MacBook Pro, but I'm too tired to pull up all the details on that. If just hearing "MacBook for sale" makes you jumpy, holler. I think I paid $1800 or so for it around this time last year. Thanks to the new MacBooks that were released last month and a little depreciation, I'll probably look for $1000-1200ish. We'll see; more research is required.
That's all for now. Time for bed. Up early tomorrow for another day of VoIP bliss.

I'll keep you posted as to my whereabouts. The grad school thing is moving pretty fast, so I may not be in Boston a year from now...or even six months from now I also won't have any cash to travel if that's the case. Then again I could decide I am way too poor for grad school and defer for a year. I'm actually really excited by not knowing.
Best wishes,
ko
