I finally finished sanding the old bass today. Tomorrow I'm going to sand, stain and seal a piece of test wood to see how it turns out. If all goes well, next week I will start working on the actual bass. Another couple of weeks and I should have it done, if all goes well. It'll be nice to have the old girl back! After that, I'm going to start in on my next bass one.
The other day I went to Michael's and picked up some drawing supplies. I fully intend to start drawing again; I used to a lot when I was younger. I had a particular knack for technical drawing. I bought a mechanical pencil, an eraser stick, a clear grid ruler, another plastic ruler, some French curves, a protractor, some triangles, a compass and a 18" x 24" sketch pad. My first project will be a plan for the new bass. I'm going to draw it out and then use the drawing to make patterns.
I'm confusedmovies are $9.50 now? Weren't they $7 the last time I went? If there's a lull in movie theater profits, perhaps studios could focus on producing good movies consistently instead constant mediocre crap and the occasional blockbuster. Just a thought!
I've got a neat project coming up! A couple of friends are going to start a VoIP business. The ducks are already in a row. They have the equipment necessary and they're currently haggling co-location prices. They have an IT consultant with a large client base that we've worked with for years who has been asking them for months when they'd have a service that he can sell, since his previous "supplier" of VoIP services has stopped selling the product. He already has many people interested. The market for voice over IP is growing, but there aren't a lot of providers who offer it. I'm going to be building their website and once their business generates enough need, I'll be an installer as well. Probably nights and weekends at firstand if things really pan out, maybe I'd end up working for them full-time. I really hope it takes off for them; I'm excited to be involved.
