Merry Christmas, kids.
A trip to a local bar here at home Friday night lead to a twisted High School reunion. I went to meet up with a couple of friends and as the night went on more and more people from our graduating class kept coming in. An old crush that I hadnt seen in a couple of years slid into the booth next to me and we chatted for a little bit. Im really kicking myself for not giving her my number and asking her to stay in touch. I saw a bunch of other people I hadnt seen in years, too. It ended up just like high school, too. Our friend Bubba made the observation that the old non-popular kids were apart from the old popular kids and there were still more of them than us.
I also saw a kid from high school that was a prick to most people, except the other cool kids like him, and generally took any opportunity to make fun of someone that he could. School was of course a waste of time to him. There must have been a lot of food orders at the bar last night, because he looked pretty busy flipping burgers and frying French fries behind the counter. Karma rules.
I ate too much. I think Im going to die.
I went up to my exs place yesterday morning and she made me apple-puff pancakes, which Id never heard of before. Theyre pretty damn good. It drives me nuts that I still have a thing for her, but I know she and I wouldnt work out again. Because I have a thing for her still, I dont like hearing about her new and old romantic interests. But, I want her to be happy at the same time and wish her the best of luck. What a fustercluck of emotions.
Ill be home on the 27th Im going to hug my cable modem. Dial-up is so cruel.
More family stuff tomorrow.
Hung out with my dad a little bit today, and we went over wood working stuff. Im going to stain the new bass I build blue, throw a couple coats of shellac on there, and then shoot it with some polyurethane for a nice glossy finish. Im going to do it all by hand with a good brush instead of using a spray gun. I can get a glass-smooth and level finish with just a brush if I do it right. Staining the wood is another way to accomplish a really nice transparent color finish without messing with clear lacquer and dyes.

I think stain is the way to go. Did you rebuild it or did you eventually get your stolen bass back?
