It would truly make my year if all the flirty, promiscuous people in the universe would just drop the crap and fuck the shit out of each other, spreading the AIDS virus as they do so and sealing their demise.
Wait, secret project? Consider my interest peaked sir. Whenever you want to divulge, please feel free. I am the master of discretion.
To cover your previous points - and I should say now, I feel slightly humbled when your comments left are longer than the journal post itself. Thank you.
For now, I think we should both say a big fuck you to the Manifesto and leave it at that. My recommendation came before it was actually finished, which I think was an oversight on my part. So thanks for taking the time, but I'll be more careful with my recommendations in the future.
I have now finished Rant, and you were absolutely right. I did not see that coming at all. I thought I saw something coming, but it certainly wasn't that. I am now currently onto Crash, which despite the slightly similar subject mater, isn't as easy a read. But still very enjoyable. In between this is Watchmen - yeah sorry for the typo on that one.
Regarding your film idea, I say fucking go for it. When you say the comedy you wrote, have I read this, or is it something else. What I read - the name of which escapes me, and is far too far from my couch right now, so sorry - was pretty fucking hilarious, so having met both yourself and Matias, and having seen your work posted on youtube ... well, I say again, fucking go for it and consider my ticket booked or DVD pre-ordered, however you end up doing it.
Now, I'm off to finish the cocoa and try and shake this cough. Hope all is well with yourself. Apart from your apparent lady troubles I mean.
I'm not sure if we've covered this, but gotta say I'm lovin' the new Queen's tune. Unfortunately my sickness isn't quite as rocking. Common flu and cough for me, unfortunately.
Regarding the Manifesto, I wouldn't let it get you down too much. Not sure how you're going with it, but there aren't any huge surprises coming. For every insightful comment pointed towards middle America comes the realisation that this character - or characters, is a theory I have - has never really had to want or work for anything. Everything - whether he wants it or not - can be handed to him. He/They basically represent this new youth who, no matter what opportunities they're given, will always be discontent and will always want more. They've seen Fight Club far too many times. They don't want to be their parents, but they don't want to accept responsibility.
I wouldn't read too much into it. The lesson I took away was that anyone can go out and do the self publish thing. Writing something actually worthwhile that says something new is the hard part.
Once I'm done with Rant, I'll be starting on Crash. Kiss Me Judas will follow shortly after, with a newly acquired copy of Watchman falling in there somewhere.
A really quick update cause I said there'd be one. Not sure how long this is going to be, a lot of things have been going on, I'm not too sure what to mention...
Dude! Drunk phone calls are like, y'know ... the way of the future ... and shit.
I gots more, but I think a lay down is in order...
OH! But shit... ah, man you really fell through that roof, huh? Fo' serious. I think I'd still be crying into my wounds. You're like, Wolverine ... or something...
and yeah, fuck university in it's muther-fuckin' analytical arse ...
Thank you to those who came to the show on Saturday night; the band has it's first headlining gig at the Excelsior on Australia Day with The Friday Kill and This Ethereal Heart.
Ooooh ahh! I would very much like to catch a Geminus gig. My friend Alex is moving into my place on Thursday, so if we're not dead by Friday, I'll push the gig!
The rowdiness didn't happen at all during Christmas... it was family family family, which was nice but not at all rowdy. Since the new year though, it's been non-stop rowdy. I love rowdy, Blake. There, I said it!
What're you doing with yourself? How is your film going?
I had bought tickets to the killers and they play on australia day/night.....I think....I'm in a weird headspace being awake still at this hour....damn it!!! I would come to the gig if i could...but you know that
Christmas Eve was fun; sunk the piss with good friends at my humble abode as has become tradition. I really need to sort myself out with a camera, digital or otherwise, so as to document such events. A mini keg of Heineken and then a case of Coronas and limes, oh my!
Have been bashing away on a newly acquired electronic drum kit.... Read More
i got the painting and the dreamboat got the doll. he'd been asking for a leonard cohen doll for about a year now! i wish i was free saturday night but your show is on the same day as the mountain goats! sorry
Bit of a shindig at deadforhours' place last night. I had a fucking great one. Talked for hours and hours with some guy named Daniel who is one of my new favourite people. Cocteau, Aliens, drugs; tie those together and add beer. So that was really nice, though I think I ended up... Read More
I haven't heard it yet but am told it's pretty ratshit.
Shoulda got Barry Adamson to do the soundtrack, the man's a fucking genius. Get some sympatico acts like Goldfrapp, Portishead and Moloko along for the ride.
Mmmmm... Moloko's Pretty Bridges would make a fine title track for a Bond epic
Drunken singing and guitaring, my friend. And now I feel sick. And I want to eat but I know how much of a hassle it's going to be to have to go out and get petrol and then to KFC and then.. it'll be like 3pm by the time I get it. There's no cheese in the fridge. Gay.
They're OK. I guess I just want to support the local scene. Like a few weeks ago I saw Youth Group and they were SHIT. And I want to support the local support acts because I want people to support me when I'm a local support act needing support. Support. Looks like a made up word when you over-use it.
