in god we trust - but what god is that? money is america's god. its printed everywhere, on the currency, in the courthouses.
jay-z's first label - before becoming roc-a-fella : frozen records.
do you think one of america's wealthiest families, the rockefellers' would let anybody rip off their name even if its spelled roc-a-fella unless they had a hand in it? jay-z must've made a pact with the family and he even says so, cryptically rappin about how he wants to be like the roots and common but cant, b/c he's corporate and that style doesnt sell, how he's bound by contract, b/c the authentic conscious style doesnt sell as popular and consequently, doenst make enough money.
what is rock? ice.
who are on top of the game in hip hop? ice cube, ice-t...we snicker now, but who was the first big commercial white rapper, vanilla ice?
jay, must be nice, rock'n all that ice,
ice, the theory of keeping the blindsided frozen in thought. and subsequently, class and status quo.
ok, ok, so this is just the ramblings of a tired sightseer.
or go ahead, deconstruct it. see where it takes you.
where have the girls gone?

geography is really cool. it's more like sociology - a bit more theory driven and a bit more willing to ask "fun" questions (there is an *aesthetic* element that comes into play, encouraging philosophical thinking i think). and geographers do like EVERYTHING - just any old problem they pick up and start to work on, relating the question to space. it's really really cool.
