My favorite set is, still by far, Smashing. This set was shot by @Shazzy as 99% of my sets, but I especially love it because it meant so much for me. First, my SG name was inspired by the Pumpkins. It was my favorite band at the time and I was mildly obsessed by them. As mentionned in my set, I really wanted to shoot a tribute set for a while, and as Shazzy was also a Pumpkins fan, it was easy to get her involved in the project.
At first, we were heading towards a more regular rock band tribute set, with posters, cds, maybe a guitar or an amp, and me dressed up as when going to a rock concert. But I started thinking about what made me love the Pumpkins over other rock bands, and part of it was the aesthetics of the band, and that was very well carried through their music videos. I especially loved the Mellon collie look, and as a goth girl then, the Adore look was more my style. So I suggested to aim for that mood, something more dream-like, but also darker. And that gave Shazzy some creative ideas for a setting.
When I arrived at Shazzy's that day, I was amazed by what she had done. The poster on the wall, the aluminum-wrapped stars, the mirror on the floor, the accessories (the key, the wand, the white scarf), were a way better set-up than I imagined it would be. She had done her part of the homework! I took care of the ballerina look with my corset, crinoline and makeup (a vague reference to the thirty-three video), and put boots on, to emphasize a soft/hard contrast.
She put a Smashing Pumpkins playlist as we shot, and it went very naturally. She was so excited to show me the pictures as we were shooting. I guess that beyond the fact that it was a Pumpkins themed set, what appealed to me is that this set has a nice artistic quality. I first got into SG because I loved that they could shoot artsy nudes. To me, that was the closest I was getting to shooting artsy nudes. We both were very creative through the process, and it was real teamwork, cause without @Shazzy, this could never have worked as well as it did.
