Hi guys! Thanks for your comments on my last blog. I see there aren't only stupid people here
I didn't show up at the SG party yesterday, (I hope you had a nice evening) and I have a very good reason for it. I went to an underground party, meaning a party that was underground, literally. It was Niiiiice!!
Let me put you in context: There is this crazy french (from France) crew that organized a lot of parties a couple of years ago. They used to find really nice rooms for their parties, old lofts, spaces to rent in industrial areas... and you had to pay 5, 10$ for the party. After a while, the money paid for their equipment, so the parties became free. These guys were real party people, I mean, they were recked on booze and all sorts of drugs and still jumping around at 5am, and at least once a month. I won't say I'm reckless as they were, but it keeps a party going Two of these parties were done outside, in tunnels and under a highway, we're talking real clandestine here. I've been to the one under a highway, 2 years ago. And it was one of the best parties. It was small (40-50 people tops) dirty, gritty, unsafe, illegal, and so much fun. The music was real nice, they installed a trampoline where you could've easily hit your head on the concrete above, where all the cars passed but couldn't know you were there. Fun.
But like any story of party and drugs with close friends, it turned to shit after a while. They were always fighting and were way too wasted to be productive. But apparently, these 2 particular parties were spoken of and recalled a lot, because they decided to throw a new one yesterday. I tried to invite all the people I could, as they HAD to try it, but nobody wanted or could, so we ended up just me and my boyfriend. We hesistated, since it was far and late when we decided to go, but we still did. And all night I thought, everybody else, sucks to be you.
It wasn't too hard to find, as it was real close to my old job, near a bridge by the river. The entrance was a fence, and you had to walk straight in a tunnel for a couple minutes, in the dark. Incidentally, I took pictures of that entrance last year while exploring that neighborhood. These are the only pictures I have, I would've looooved having my camera yesterday... Here it is:
(mind you, this was in springtime. It wasn't as dirty yesterday.)
They advised to bring a flashlight, but we didn't have one, so we brought... a candle. Real old school! But I don't know, it enhanced the experience... So you walked in the dark, with a flickering dim light, and gradually, you heard a bassline coming... you saw a couple of lights flashing ahead and a couple of heads bouncing... people lighting their ways with their cells... just for that, we were super excited. The feeling was great. Then, at the end of that tunnel, you just had to enter the next tunnel, and there it was. 2 dj tables, colored lights, visuals distorted by the tunnel, a crowd, dancing in gravel to actually good music, and a huge pipe coming out of the ground and following the round ceiling. Fantastic. The atmosphere was spot on. And there were a lot of people for the type of party! There were probably around 200 people coming and going in the whole night. This time, we actually thought of bringing water... And people were generally very friendly and mature to our surprise, with only a handful of drunken idiots (which party doesn't have its share?). It was a success. I got home in the morning, I'm tired and dirty, but that was the best party I went to in at least the last 2 years.
By the way, I didn't take the job. So I'm still poor and technically free, although I'm more busy than I ever was while working full time. Tell me if you want to plan something...
