Had a fun day today. Trying to pick out baby names with my brother's wife. She may be a sweetheart but that didn't stop her from piddling all over my ideas. First it was Snake Plissken. Then it was Lynyrd. Then she shot down Stud, Shitbob, Lips, Snip-Snap, Nino, Hoss, Major Bludd, and a lot more. So I quit trying. There's no pleasing that woman....

My left eye is fixing to explode. I've had way too much sugar tonight. Nerds and sorbet and laffy taffy. There's nothing funny about a diabetic coma, folks. But I hope it can keep my jittery ass up past my bedtime. I've gotta get some work done while the house is quiet.

what.... no fun dips.... 115 degrees in hell here today.... i am actually looking forward to going to nebraska in a few weeks.... shoot me now.... i found a new writing subject... my oldest brother, the almost a millionaire 5 different times, yet always broke, is wheeling and dealing land purchases in montana.... it's quite a tale of just misses but he has always been happiest being his own boss.... gotta go... a cactus just burst into flames...
Today was fun. Even though it was hotter than a crotch. I tortured myself all day long with the boston movie shit. But I've made a dent in the last two hours or so. So that's good.
I'm kinda counting the days until big bro, his wife, and I drive back to the southland. I'm coming back up to South Dakota with them in late...

Yes, I'm a State student here. My mom's side of the family are dead set against Ole Miss, believe me. The only reason I wound up going to State was that I was an engineering major back in the beginnings of my undergrad days, and State's the place to go for that shit. I really don't get much into the rivalry between the two, but we did kick some Ole Miss ass in the last Egg Bowl.
I'm down with the Carter family. I can't say I've listened to all of their stuff, but I've definitely liked what I've heard so far.

I'm at the Chickasawhay down in Laurel working for the summer. I haven't worked on any burial mounds, and I imagine those are a little rarer than most people think. My field school site just north of Starkville had a mound, but it was a Mississippian site, so no burials in the mound. There were, however, burials in the village around the mound, and I got to work on some of those. I'm pretty sure some Archaic mounds have been identified in Mississippi, mostly in the southern part of the state. I can't say for certain, but I believe I heard of a Middle Archaic mound on the De Soto forest that they found last year or earlier this year. And there are a couple of Poverty Point, Late Archiac sites with mounds just across from Louisiana.
The wind is howling outside. That's a good thing. My brother and I wrestled around on the floor today. He said I hurt his back. We played football in the backyard yesterday. It was truly pathetic. We tackle like old women. I don't remember it hurting so much. We're getting old. We're a couple of pussies.
I just found out that I'll be returning home...

Went to the fireworks display at Mt. Rushmore last night. There were a couple of fly-bys before the main attraction. A B-52 flew over and then a B-1. The B-1 was weak. They didn't even hit the afterburners. My brother said that they were probably a little wary considering a B-1 crew was called on the carpet for letting a visiting General roll the aircraft...

alright, here is what i've learned. you've got a tightknit family, you're very kind even to animals and have what seems to be a positive outlook on life. i am willing to overlook all that for now. sarcasm and bitterness bubbles at my surface but deep down its pretty much pure apathy. you've now realized i don't use proper grammar, syntax and so on. i figure that's what editors are for. see, ending a sentence with a preposition. one of my favorites.
mine is set in the south which is funny because i have never really been to the south which is why it is called " my kinda south ". catchy huh. basically a story of two brothers. when the family has to deal with tradegy, the one brother splits town to travel the world leaving lil bro to make his own way. throw in the mysterious suicide of the boys alcoholic father, the return of the prodigal son, and a cast of eccentrics that the south is known for. combine early r.e.m. videos with "fargo" with the nostalgic feel of "stand by me". it's all about the cinematography. i would like to capture the essence of this small town in georgia the way spike lee did that one city block in bedstuy brooklyn new york. radio raheem like a motherfucker.
probably sorry you asked now i'm sure. i'll cut you a break. i almost took a job once in mobile alabama. that is as close to mississippi as i get. don't think i have the temperment for tour guide but i will get south soon. not right now right now... but later later...

The movie's coming along. I've been stuck here by myself for the past week or so. Brother's working long hours and his wife's visiting family. It screws with my head when I'm alone for extended periods of time. But I am getting a lot of work done. And we haven't worked on the basement in more than a week. We've got to get a building...

"movie's coming along" caught my eye. always interested in other's adventures. i am in early stages of writing something. i can write at nausea on character development, background, locations etc. but dialogue just doesn't flow as easy. has resulted in short stories and poems and song lyrics and other imagery but doesn't help get a script done. anyways, the haunted tennessee farm was very compelling... unless your just pulling our legs... some family have a farm in nebraska and being out there at night in tornado season scares the hell out of me even without ghosts... interested in the boston mob movie... i'll keep reading when i get the chance... gotta tell you as a pennsylvania kid growing up, Hires is the champagne of root beers....
I think I'm addicted to Barqs floats. God help me.
It's mighty chilly outside. I might have to fetch an extra blanket. I am an old woman.
I've gotta get some work done on the movie.
Something attempted, something done has earned a night's repose.

Watched Dark Water tonight. Eh. It could've been better. The best part was the footsteps coming from upstairs. That gave me the chills.
Our old farmhouse in Tennessee is haunted. Or it was. My brothers and I used to hear and feel the footsteps downstairs. I'd be laying in bed upstairs and I could hear someone or something running from the kitchen to the living...

Today was a good day. My brother had to get up at four in the morning because he was flying. He's always in a good mood when he gets to fly. I spent the day working on the movie. I've got about 90% of the plot nailed down. When my brother got home we put up another wall in the basement. Then we went to...

Spent all day yesterday in the basement, putting up walls and what not. I felt stupid because my brother told me I was stupid. Ha ha. My mind wanders from time to time. I can't help it.

I just fell asleep working on the boston pig. It's coming together alright. My dad's helping me long distance.
For some reason I was just thinking about an animal encounter I had right before I left Tennessee. I was out back, picking up sticks, when I heard an animal in the bushes. I was hoping it wasn't Jake.
Next thing I know a little bitty...

My brother, his wife, and I walked the Crazy Horse Volksmarch on Saturday. A six mile loop. It was fun. I got to walk to the tip of his arm. It is a hell of a place. I've been twice before but this past weekend was the only time of the year folks are allowed onto the monument. It was awesome. My brother bought me...

And Ralph is a cuddler, up to a point. Then he randomly and playfully attacks you, jumps around like he's tweaking, and then runs back and forth across the apartment for an hour or two. He's quite mad.
He's not the least bit afraid of Esprit, walks right up to her, and paws her nose when she leans down to check him out. But if he makes any sudden moves, she bolts away.
