There's a creek in my backyard, with a little waterfall. In order to get to this creek you have to walk down a hill full of secret traps and gopher holes. You have to walk through a mini corn field and by what looks like a giant bush of marijuana (it's not though, trust me). Then you have to walk through pokey weeds and spider webs and tall tickly grass. Over rocks, boulders, and sharp gravel. And then finally, a little beachy sand, and cool cold water and slippery stones.
I like going through this little adventure to get to my creek. It's like a fun getaway, a hideout (even though kids are always down there, as well as drunk people catching frogs). I can frolick in the water barefooted, chase little creatures, and jump across rocks like I'm an explorer or thrillseeker of the ages.
My boyfriend used to play here. And now I do.

I have a rock quarry behind my house that sounds much the same.

They built this road-pass-concrete-thing over this creek near me, which I thought had totally dried it out... but lately I've seen that there's still water there, just a lot of brush around it, which I guess will preserve the wildlife better, although I guess it prevents kids from really going down there anymore (unless they like deer ticks, mosquitos, and so on).
